Sobre el reglamento Battleground WWII, que muchas partidas hemos realizado pero con miniaturas de 20mm y con un número cuantioso de minis, no sólo para mi gusto, sino para la opinión también de algunos compañeros más,  nuestro compañero Strateguc Maximus, tras probarlos en otros lares, nos lo vuelve a presentar pero con minis de 28mm.

Hasta ese momento, personalmente, no veía con buenos ojos partidas de escaramuzas, con miniaturas a nivel pelotón o, simplemente , una escuadra.

En otras ocasiones he jugado a con otros reglamentos para escaramuzas, pero que no han llegado de gustarme por ser poco historicistas, pero en ambientación histórica. Me refiero, por ejemplo, a reglamentos de ambientación en la 2GM, pero con reglas que se alejan de la realidad, no sólo histórica, sino de la realidad armamentística y de la lógica. Juegos diseñados para vender miniaturas y para crear partidas rápidas de cara a crear torneos.

Pero al presentar un juego en el que conozco bien el reglamento y no permite nada fuera de la lógica y del realismo, al final no sólo me pareció interesante cambiar de la escala de 20mm a la de 28mm, sino que cada vez más me gustan los juegos con pocas minis y más tácticas que estratégicas, por lo que esta escala es perfecta.

Strategus nos presentó una mesa ya montada.

Un escenario con zonas de ocultación en las que las minis se podían mover fuera de la vista del enemigo, pero a la vez con zonas despejadas. Y con las minis de los dos bandos de su propia colección.

Todo ello para que pudiésemos ver como funcionaba Battleground para 28mm un reglamento diseñado en su día para 15mm y 20mm.

About the Battleground WWII regulation, which many games we have done but with 20mm miniatures and a large number of minis, not only for my taste, but for the opinion also of some colleagues, our partner Strateguc Maximus, after testing them in other countries , he presents it again but with 28mm minis.
Until that moment, personally, I did not see with good eyes games of skirmishes, with miniatures at platoon level or, simply, a squad.
On other occasions I have played with other regulations for skirmishes, but they have not come to like me for being unhistorical, but in a historical setting. I am referring, for example, to rules of environment in the 2GM, but with rules that are far from the reality, not only historical, but of the weapons reality and logic. Games designed to sell miniatures and to create fast games in order to create tournaments.
But when presenting a game in which I know the regulation well and does not allow anything outside of logic and realism, in the end I not only found it interesting to change from the 20mm scale to the 28mm scale, but I increasingly like the games with few minis and more tactics than strategic, so this scale is perfect.

Strategus presented us with a table already assembled.
A scenario with zones of concealment in which the minis could move out of sight of the enemy, but at the same time with clear zones. And with the minis of the two sides of their own collection.
All this so that we could see how Battleground worked for 28mm a regulation designed in its day for 15mm and 20mm.

Los 4 ó 6 que éramos, nos dividimos en dos grupos.

Uno con los USA, con un pelotón formado por una escuadra de mando.

The 4 or 6 we were, we divided into two groups.

Con tres escuadras de fusileros, reforzado por un Sherman y un jeep de reconocimiento.

With three squadrons of riflemen, reinforced by a Sherman and a reconnaissance jeep.

Los norteamericanos inician el movimiento y van apareciendo, según van saliendo aleatoriamente las unidades y avanzan hasta tomar posiciones más o menos seguras.

Este juego tiene el movimiento de las unidades de forma aleatoria, pero que en vez de dados en bolsa, se usan cartas que se mezclan con las del equipo contrario, por lo que la aleatoriedad está asegurada.

The Americans initiate the movement and they appear, as the units randomly move out and advance to take more or less secure positions.

This game has the movement of the units randomly, but instead of dice in the bag, cards are used that are mixed with those of the opposing team, so that randomness is assured.

Por el otro lado tenemos a los alemanes, distribuidos de la misma forma, con un pelotón formado por una escuadra de mando.

On the other side we have the Germans, distributed in the same way, with a squad formed by a command squad.

Y tres escuadras de fusileros.

La partida empezó con los movimientos. Aquí ya nos percatamos que era mucho más ágil que para 20mm, ya que el terreno, por la escala mayor, se recorría mucho más rápidamente.

The game started with the movements. Here we already realized that it was much more agile than for 20mm, since the terrain, on the larger scale, was traveled much more quickly.

Y que los fuegos de oportunidad del enemigo, a esta escala empezaban a ser más lógicos y efectivos que en escalas inferiores.

And that the fires of opportunity of the enemy, on this scale began to be more logical and effective than at lower scales.

Por lo que las coberturas empezaban a ser mucho más importantes.

So the coverage began to be much more important.

Y no sólo eso, sino que poner en fuego de oportunidad (OP) las unidades propias, evitaba que el enemigo pudiese emboscar al resto de soldados en los avances posteriores.

And not only that, but to put in fire of opportunity (OP) the own units, it avoided that the enemy could ambush to the rest of soldiers in the later advances.

Una vez entendido que ciertas reglas que para una escala pueden ser simples apoyos, en esta escala llegan a ser necesarias y, bajo el rigor táctico, lógico e histórico, imprescindibles.

Otra de las cosas que nos dimos cuenta rápidamente, es que mientras en escalas como 15mm y 20mm necesitas mucha potencia de fuego a distancia (tanques, morteros, cañones,…), a esta escala son necesarios, en pequeña cantidad, más o menos una de cada, como mucho, pero sólo para el apoyo del avance de las tropas. Tal como pasa en la realidad.

Another thing that we quickly realized, is that while on scales like 15mm and 20mm you need a lot of remote firepower (tanks, mortars, cannons, ...), at this scale you need, in small quantity, more or less of each, as much, but only for the support of the advance of the troops. Una MMG bien posicionada y haciendo un fuego especial, como un barrido sistemático sobre un área determinada, a esta escala es mucho más efectivo que llevar 3 HMG en fuego de oportunidad.

Al abarcar más distancia las armas, y el moverse a más distancia, algo lógico en cuanto mayor es la escala de las miniaturas,  el terreno de combarte se acorta y permite utilizar todas las reglas del juego de una forma más eficaz y permite una mirada en perspectiva más eficiente.

A well positioned MMG and making a special fire, like a systematic sweep over a certain area, at this scale is much more effective than carrying 3 HMG in opportunity fire.
By encompassing more distance weapons, and moving more distance, something logical as the scale of the miniatures increases, the terrain of combat is shortened and allows to use all the rules of the game in a more effective way and allows a look at more efficient perspective.

El apoyo de las ametralladoras, utilizadas eficazmente, permite que las escuadras de fusileros avancen con mayor soltura.

The support of the machine guns, used effectively, allows the rifle squads advance with greater ease.

Aunque los fuegos de oportunidad americanos hace que eso sea complicado.

Although the American opportunity fires make that complicated.

Las órdenes de los americanos son más fáciles de transmitir, ya que todas las unidades llevan radio.

The orders of the Americans are easier to transmit, since all the units carry radio.

Y permiten coordinar mejor la defensa y posterior ataque a los enemigos.

Los alemanes deben ir más reagrupados pero si juegan bien con sus MMG y si Pz IV, son tan mortíferos como si posicionan a sus unidades de forma más abierta y mejor comunicados.

And they allow to coordinate better the defense and later attack to the enemies.
The Germans must go more regrouped but if they play well with their MMG and if Pz IV, they are as deadly as if they position their units more openly and better communicated.

Y un Panzer, en cuanto ve a un Sherman, es bien fácil convertirlo en un Ronson.

And a Panzer, as soon as he sees a Sherman, it's very easy to turn him into a Ronson.

Esta eficacia de armas de apoyo alemanas hace que los norteamericanos, con la misma cantidad de tropas, tengan muy crudo el ganar terreno y hace bajas al enemigo.

This effectiveness of German support weapons means that Americans, with the same number of troops, have very hard to gain ground and lowers the enemy.

Pero si las escuadras, en vez de ir cada una por su cuenta, empiezan a unirse y a atacar a lo más débil de los alemanes, las escuadras de fusileros, es cuando empiezan a hacer alguna cosa de provecho.

But if the squads, instead of going each on their own, begin to join and attack the weakest of the Germans, the squads of riflemen, is when they begin to do something useful.

Y si el jeep de reconocimiento es usado más como arma de apoyo móvil, esto empieza a tomar otro carisma, menos pésimo.

And if the reconnaissance jeep is used more as a mobile support weapon, this begins to take on another charisma, less lousy.

Aunque el asalto cuerpo a cuerpo siempre es la solución final para sacar a los enemigos de su madriguera.

Although the melee assault is always the final solution to get the enemies out of their burrow.

La partida llega a un punto en el que los combates son bastante feroces.

The game reaches a point where the fighting is quite fierce.

Aun así, los americanos no consiguen afianzar las posiciones y poco a poco los alemanes les van comiendo terreno.

Even so, the Americans are not able to secure the positions and little by little the Germans are eating ground.

Al final, los alemanes se hacen con el control de los puntos estratégicos y los norteamericanos deben retroceder ante el empuje de estos.

In the end, the Germans take control of the strategic points and the Americans must retreat before the push of these.

Al final indicar que el sistema a 28mm me agradó más que para 20mm. Se utilizan menos miniaturas, es más ágil el juego y te permite crear grupos para partidas que con una caja de 30 miniaturas de plástico multipose, más uno o dos vehículos de apoyo, tienes para crear tu propio ejército.

In the end, I indicated that the 28mm system pleased me more than 20mm. Less miniatures are used, the game is more agile and allows you to create groups for games that with a box of 30 multipose plastic miniatures, plus one or two support vehicles, you have to create your own army.

Otra nueva partida de Star Wars Armada.

En esta ocasión la carta de misión salió la de “Ofensiva desde el Hiperespacio.

Another new game of Star Wars Armada.

On this occasion the mission letter came out of "Offensive from Hyperspace.

El primer jugador, el imperial, inicia desplegando toda su fuerza naval desde un único punto.

The first player, the imperial, starts deploying all his naval force from a single point.

Y el jugador rebelde, con nuestra única nave y único escuadrón, hacemos lo propio.

And the rebel player, with our only ship and only squad, do the same.

Y colocamos los 3 marcadores  en el tablero de juego.

Tablero que ya tienen desechos espaciales y meteoritos, para dar alegría a la partida.

And we put the 3 markers on the game board.

Board that already have space debris and meteorites, to give joy to the game.

Los imperiales inician su movimiento hacia el encuentro con nuestra solitaria nave, pero dejando en reserva al 2º destructor que tiene los motores parados.

The Imperials begin their movement towards the encounter with our solitary ship, but leaving in reserve the 2nd destroyer that has the engines stopped.

Los rebeldes iniciamos el avance.

The rebels initiate the advance.

En vista del combate desigual que tiene intención de suceder, se opta por sacar la nave del hiperespacio cerca de la nave que tenemos en juego, por lo que avisamos de la pronta llegada de la misma.

In view of the unequal combat that is intended to happen, we choose to take the hyperspace ship close to the ship we have in play, so we warn of the early arrival of it.

Y llega esta y los 3 escuadrones.

And here comes the hyperspace ship and the 3 squadrons.

Los escuadrones inician un ataque masivo, dirigidos por los comandantes Solo y Skywalker, contra el destructor más cercano.

The squads initiate a massive attack, led by commanders Solo and Skywalker, against the nearest destroyer.

Y el tercer escuadrón protege a estos del ataque de los Tie.

And the third squad protects these from the Tie attack.

A pesar del esfuerzo, el destructor deja a los escuadrones y centra su fuego contra la Corbeta Coreliana CR90, destruyéndola.

Despite the effort, the destroyer leaves the squadrons and centers its fire against the Coreliana Corvette CR90, destroying it.

Pero la Fragata Nebulon-B hace lo propio contra el destructor imperial, ayudado por los ataques de Luke y Han.

Despejado el camino, se inicia el ataque masivo contra el destructor imperial que queda.

Once the road is cleared, the massive attack against the remaining imperial destroyer begins.

La fragata Nebulon-B tiene un problema claro. Su posición no es la adecuada para iniciar un ataque, por lo que debe ir muy lento para ir cambiando su dirección.

The frigate Nebulon-B has a clear problem. His position is not adequate to start an attack, so he must go very slowly to change his direction.

Pero los cazas y el HalcónMilenario, no pierden ninguna ocasión de un ataque, posiblemente certero.

Aunque al final, sólo con los escuadrones y la nave del comandante Solo, consiguen eliminar el segundo destructor.

Una buena batalla en el que el ataque tipo enjambre primero contra un destructor, el más peligroso en ese momento, nos permitió llegar al final con fuerza y con una baja asumible.

Pero lo más importante, una buena partida y muchas risas.
