Objective: The
Crossing
Como cada año, se ha preparado una partida para todo un día,
en esta ocasión una de 2GM con 3.000 puntos por bando.
A veces solemos hacer una batalla conocida, de alguno de los
reglamentos que solemos utilizar, tanto sea de 2GM, como napoleónico, fantasía
o ciencia ficción.
Como últimamente estamos con el reglamento Blitzkrieg
Commander, versión 4, se decidió hacerla sobre este juego.
As every year, a game has been prepared for a whole
day, this time a WWII game with 3,000 points per side.
Sometimes we usually make a known battle, from one of
the regulations that we usually use, whether it is WWII, such as Napoleonic,
fantasy or science fiction.
As lately we are with the regulation Blitzkrieg
Commander, version 4, it was decided to do it on this game.
Pero este año es un tanto raruno, en vez de estar presentes
los 4 ó 6 que solemos jugar a esta escala y ambientación, sólo estuvimos la
mitad: Ignasi, Enric y yo (de derecha a izquierda en la imágen).
But this year is a bit weird, instead of the 4 or 6
who usually play at this scale and setting being present, only half were there:
Ignasi, Enric and me (from right to left in the image).
Para esta ocasión se utilizó una mesa de 240x180 cm, con una
distribución aleatoria de los elementos de escenografía.
Ambos ejércitos saldrían del lado de 240cm y los dos tendrían
como único objetivo hacerse con el control del
cruce, en 6 turnos, aunque nos proponemos como máximo 8 turnos.
For this occasion a 240x180 cm table was used, with a
random distribution of the scenography elements.
Both armies would come out on the 240cm side and both
would have the sole objective of taking control of the crossing, in 6 turns,
although we propose a maximum of 8 turns.
Turno 1 – Turn 1
Empezamos los USA avanzando. Los blindados del flanco
derecho inician un tímido avance, para proteger ese lado.
We started the USA moving forward. The armor on the
right flank began a timid advance to protect that side.
En el centro la artillería de 105mm se posiciona en lo alto
de una colina de nivel 2, mientras que los morteros no ven claro el avance ni
donde posicionarse.
Y estas indecisiones, de forma generalizada en los
norteamericanos, empezó a ser algo muy habitual.
In the center, the 105mm artillery is positioned on
top of a level 2 hill, while the mortars do not see clear the advance or where
to position.
And these indecisions, in a generalized way in North
Americans, began to be something very common.
La infantería inicia el avance, sin mucha prisa, hacia el
pueblo, avanzando por la zona de la carretera.
The infantry begins the advance, without much hurry,
towards the town, advancing along the road area.
Los blindados del flanco izquierdo, desoyen las ordenes y
prefieren estar tranquilos en la posición inicial.
Al final terminamos sabiendo que el mando de los tanques era
el Sargento Oddball.
The armor on the left flank, ignore orders and prefer
to be calm in the initial position.
In the end we ended up knowing that the command of the
tanks was Sergeant Oddball.
El único que avanzó
fue el jeep de reconocimiento, que llegó hasta el pueblo, pero en vista
de la tranquilidad del avance USA, prefirió estar oculto hasta nuevo aviso.
The only one that advanced was the reconnaissance
jeep, which reached the town, but in view of the calm of the US advance, it
preferred to be hidden until further notice.
Por su parte los alemanes se dieron algo más de prisa por
llegar al pueblo, ya que el objetivo era tomarlo y controlarlo.
Sus unidades del centro de su formación, avanzaron hasta la
entrada le pueblo.
For their part, the Germans were a little faster to
reach the town, since the objective was to take and control it.
His units from the center of his formation advanced to
the entrance of the town.
Sus blindados de nuestro flanco izquierdo fueron un poco más
cautos, ya que frente a ellos había un bosque denso y una carretera por la que
podrían salir los blindados USA (que nunca llegó a ocurrir).

as in front of them there was a dense forest and a road through which the US
armor could exit (which never happened).

en nuestro flanco derecho, sobre una colina de nivel 2, frente al avance de
nuestros blindados.

is positioned on our right flank, on a level 2 hill, facing the advance of our
armor.
Curiosamente, la unidad que menos avanzó de los alemanes fue
su recon.
Interestingly, the least advanced unit of the Germans
was their recce.
Afortunadamente, el grupo de blindados alemanes del avance
central, no vieron claro este avance y retrocedieron hasta su posición inicial,
aunque les falto 10cm para salirse del campo de batalla (es lo que tiene sacar
un doble 6 y recibir la orden de retroceder la mitad de su movimiento).
Fortunately, the group of German armored vehicles from
the central advance did not see this advance clearly and fell back to their
initial position, although they were 10 cm short of leaving the battlefield
(that's what it takes to get a double 6 and receive the order to go back half
of his movement).
Igual que los USA teníamos una escuadrilla de B-25 para
bombardear a los alemanes, estos tenian un par de baterías Nebelwerfer.
Just as the USA had a squad of B-25s to bombard the
Germans, they had a couple of Nebelwerfer batteries.
Turno 2 – Turn 2
Nada más empezar el 2º turno, la escuadrilla de B-25
Mitchell norteamericanos fueron a realizar un bombardeo programado (lo siento,
me llegaron a último momento por e-bay y no he tenido tiempo de pintarlo, sólo
de montarlo, pero para probar como funcionan los ataques aéreos, es más que
suficiente).
As soon as the 2nd shift started, the US B-25 Mitchell
squad went to carry out a scheduled bombing (sorry, they came to me at the last
minute by e-bay and I didn't have time to paint it, just to assemble it, but to
test how airstrikes work, it's more than enough).
Entre los Anti Aéreos de los mandos y un grupo de Anti Aéreos móviles estuvieron a
punto de hacer fracasar este bombardeo, pero no fue a peor.
Aunque cuando utilizaron el 88mm, eso ya fue otra cosa.
Between the Anti-Airmen of the commands and a group of
mobile Anti-Aircraft they were about to make this bombardment fail, but it did
not get worse.
Although when they used the 88mm, that was
something else.
Ya que ante semejante cantidad de disparos certeros, la
flotilla de bombarderos prefirió dar media vuelta y volverse a su aeródromo, a

Por nuestro flanco derecho, los Sherman avanzan hasta una

alemana.
On our right flank, the Shermans advance to an
acceptable distance from the town, but a misunderstood order makes the armor
head towards the town, offering the side to the German artillery.
La infantería con su avance central, se lo toman con demasiada
calma.
The infantry with their central advance, they take it
too easy.
La artillería de 105mm, en vista que los alemanes están
avanzando por el centro y nuestro flanco izquierdo, optan por moverse para
reposicionarse.
The 105mm artillery, given that the Germans are
advancing through the center and our left flank, choose to move to reposition
themselves.
El Sargento Oddball negocia con el mando el avanzar (¿cuánto
whisky le dará el teniente si avanzan hasta el pueblo y lo toman?)

Los morteros no ven nada claro el tener que avanzar más y se
quedan allí mismo.
The mortars do not see anything clear having to
advance further and they stay right there.
Por su lado, la artillería de 88mm, se posiciona para poder
disparar en el siguiente turno, ya que en este han disparado contra los B-25
Mitchell.
For its part, the 88mm artillery is positioned to be
able to fire in the next turn, since in this they have fired at the B-25
Mitchell.
Las tropas centrales alemanas, llegan a la entrada del
pueblo, inician la toma de las casas, pero no hacen mucha cosa más.
Los blindados que habían retrocedido, consiguen llegar a la
altura de la infantería.
The central German troops arrive at the entrance of
the town, begin taking the houses, but do not do much else.
The tanks that had fallen back managed to reach the
level of the infantry.
Los blindados de nuestro flanco izquierdo, prefieren no
moverse.
The armor on our left flank, prefer not to move.
Turno 3 – Turn 3
Está claro que las negociaciones del Sargento Oddball, no
consiguen llegar a buen puerto, ya que sus tanques se niegan a avanzar.
Creo que a alguien le van a hacer un consejo de guerra.
Pobre teniente.
It is clear that Sergeant Oddball's negotiations are
not coming to fruition, as his tanks refuse to advance.
I think someone is going to court martial. Poor lieutenant.
La artillería se empieza a posiciona para proteger el avance
de la infantería.
The artillery begins to position itself to protect the
advance of the infantry.
Aunque la infantería está respaldada por los cañones de
105mm, estos no ven claro el entrar en el pueblo.
Although the infantry is backed by the 105mm guns,
they do not see it clear to enter the town.
El FAC consigue posicionarse en modo oculto cerca de las
tropas alemanas.
The FAC manages to position itself in a stealth mode
close to the German troops.
El jeep Recon, como los alemanes han entrado en el pueblo,
ve peligrar su posición y opta por salir del pueblo.
The Recce jeep, as the Germans have entered the town,
sees its position in danger and chooses to leave the town.
Los blindados del flanco derecho, siguen sin entender las
ordenes del CO, y prefieren no moverse.
The armor on the right flank, still do not understand
the orders of the CO, and prefer not to move.
El 88mm alemán no pierde la oportunidad de eliminar una de
las unidades de Sherman de nuestro flanco derecho y dejar tocada otra.
The German 88mm does not miss the opportunity to
eliminate one of the Sherman units on our right flank and leave another hit.
Por su parte, la unidad de Panther alemán, dispara contra el
76mm de nuestro flanco derecho.
For its part, the German Panther unit fires at the
76mm on our right flank.
La fortuna/desgracia es que en ese momento el jeep recon,
pasaba por delante.

La infantería alemana toma definitivamente la mitad del
pueblo y sus semi orugas, ya no útiles para ellos, se colocan en medio de la
carretera, para evitar que los 105mm americanos impacten contra sus tanques.

Sus tanques de nuestro flanco izquierdo consiguen avanzar
dirección al bosque pesado.

towards the heavy forest.
Aunque los tanques centrales consiguen, in extremis,
alcanzar a la segunda unidad de tanques Sherman de nuestro flanco derecho.
Although the central tanks manage, in extremis, to
reach the second Sherman tank unit on our right flank.
Y sus disparos consiguen eliminar algunos pelotones de
infantería y alejarlos un poco del pueblo.
And their shots manage to eliminate some infantry
squads and move them a little away from the town.
Turno 4 – Turn 4
Ya en el punto intermedio de la partida, la escuadrilla de
los B-25 Mitchell consigue sortear los anti aéreos alemanes y llegar hasta el
segundo punto del bombardeo programado, aunque desafortunadamente no han
llegado a uno las tropas alemanas, alcanzando levemente a una de las unidades
de blindados.
Already in the middle of the game, the B-25 Mitchell
squad manages to circumvent the German antiaircraft and reach the second point
of the scheduled bombardment, although unfortunately the German troops have not
reached one, slightly reaching one of the armored units.
Los 105mm consiguen eliminar a los semiorugas, para que no
entorpezcan más… pero el remedio ha sido peor.
The 105mm manage to eliminate the half-tracks, so that
they do not hinder more ... but the remedy has been worse.
Por su parte los alemanes, aparte de tomar las casas
alrededor del cruce, avanzan con sus blindados por nuestro flanco izquierdo.
For their part, the Germans, apart from taking the
houses around the crossing, advance with their armor on our left flank.
Poca cosa más se puede decir de este turno, ya que entre
unidades aturdidas y tiradas nefastas de mando por ambas partes, se consiguió
que fuese un turno demasiado rápido.
Little else can be said about this turn, as between
stunned units and dire command rolls by both sides, it was a turn too fast.
Turno 5 – Turn 5
El FAC norteamericano consigue avisar a la escuadrilla de
B-25, y esta alcanza el objetivo, sorteando a los antiaéreos alemanes.
The North American FAC manages to warn the B-25
squadron, and it reaches the objective, dodging the German anti-aircraft guns.
El saldo final del bombardeo ha sido demoledor: 5 blindados
destruidos y el Panther muy tocado (pues sí, merece la pena poner bombarderos
en el ejército).
The final balance of the bombardment has been
devastating: 5 tanks destroyed and the Panther very touched (yes, it is worth
putting bombers in the army).
Los blindados de nuestro flanco derecho, los pocos que
quedan, consiguen avanzar y posicionarse para contrarrestar el avance alemán.
The armor on our right flank, the few that remain,
manage to advance and position themselves to counter the German advance.
Con ello se consigue eliminar al incordiante Panzer IV que
había en la entrada de la carretera.
With this, it is possible to eliminate the annoying
Panzer IV that was at the entrance of the road.
La infantería poco puede hacer, ya que deben hacer tirada de
moral para que acabar huyendo de la aniquilación que están sufriendo.
The infantry can do little, since they must make a

Una de las baterías intenta recolocarse para poder defender
el flanco derecho, que los alemanes lo tienen debilitado, para apoyar el avance
de la infantería fresca que queda y de los pocos blindados que hay en ese lado.

advance of the fresh infantry that remains and the few armor on that side.
Por fin las negociaciones con Oddball parece que han llegado
a buen puerto (sólo parece), y los blindados avanzan un poco.
At last the negotiations with Oddball seem to have
come to fruition (it just seems), and the tanks are advancing a bit.
Los Nebelwerfer alemanes realizan una andanada programada,
afortunadamente no queda nadie en la carretera a la entrada del pueblo.
The German Nebelwerfer carry out a programmed barrage,
fortunately no one is left on the road at the entrance to the village.
El Recon alemán localiza a nuestro FAC y dispara sin piedad
sobre él.
The German Recon locates our FAC and fires mercilessly
on it.
Los blindados alemanes de nuestro flanco izquierdo se
separan entre ellos, para evitar que los B-25 los enganchen en mala posición,
como les ha pasado a sus compañeros de la derecha.
The German armor on our left flank is separated from
each other, to prevent the B-25s from hooking them into a bad position, as has
happened to their companions on the right.
El día ya no nos da para más turnos, por lo que lo dejamos a
la entrada del 6º turno, aunque está muy claro quien ha ganado.
The day does not give us more turns, so we leave it at
the entrance of the 6th shift, although it is very clear who has won.
Los alemanes llevan 3 turnos completos dominando la zona del
cruce del pueblo, con su infantería.
The Germans have spent 3 full turns dominating the
area of the town crossing, with their infantry.
Los alemanes han tenido pocas bajas, aunque al final han
tenido algo más de blindados eliminados que nosotros.
The Germans have had few casualties, although in the
end they have had somewhat more armor eliminated than we have.
Lo que más duele es que prácticamente toda la infantería
americana han sido eliminados, bien por el fuego artillero, bien porque han
huido del campo de batalla.

What hurts the most is that practically all the
American infantry have been eliminated, either by artillery fire or because
they have fled the battlefield.

En definitiva, una buena jornada en compañía de buenos
amigos, en una época rara de narices, con muchas risas y hablando de todo
mientras jugamos.
In short, a good day in the company of good friends,
in a weird time of noses, with lots of laughs and talking about everything
while we play.
Una actividad que a ver si para el mes que viene lo
repetimos, como entrada de un nuevo año (que por las pintas va a ser muy
parecido al actual), aunque la intención es que sea una de napoleónico sobre un
escenario de la batalla de Borodino, y con el reglamento de Shako II o Imperial Eagle.
An activity that let's see if for next month we repeat
it, as the entry of a new year (which will be very similar to the current one
because of the pints), although the intention is that it be one of Napoleonic
on a scene of the battle of Borodino, and with the regulation of Shako II or Imperial Eagle.
