Objective: The Bridge

Después de la toma de París, los aliados, en el avance hacia Berlín, tuvieron que luchar por cada puente que cruzaban la infinidad de ríos en su camino.

La partida trata de como los USA deben tomar el puente, que está defendido por unidades alemanas.

After the taking of Paris, the Allies, in the advance towards Berlin, had to fight for every bridge that crossed the infinity of rivers on their way.

The game deals with how the USA must take the bridge, which is defended by German units.

El objetivo real de esta partida es la de enseñar a Enric, mi contrincante, el reglamento de Blitzkrieg Commander.

The real objective of this game is to teach Enric, my opponent, the rules of Blitzkrieg Commander.

Lo primero que se hace es desplegar las tropas sobre nuestros lados de despliegue.

El bando alemán ha optado por desplegar a los blindados al otro lado del rio.

The first thing that is done is to deploy the troops on our deployment sides.

The German side has chosen to deploy the armor on the other side of the river.

Y la infantería, cerca del pueblo.

And the infantry, near the town.

Los americanos, como realmente el objetivo es la toma de contacto del reglamento, desplegamos los tanques frente a los de los alemanes.

The Americans, since the objective is really the contact of the regulations, we deployed the tanks in front of those of the Germans.

Y las tropas de infantería, opuestas a las alemanas.

And the infantry troops, opposed to the Germans.

Se inicia el avance de las tropas, empezando por los USA, que tienen el rol de los atacantes.

The advance of the troops begins, starting with the USA, who have the role of the attackers.

Los observadores avanzados y los morteros, se colocan en una misma colina, para que se pueda ver su utilización durante la partida.

Forward observers and mortars are placed on the same hill, so that their use can be seen during the game.

Las ametralladoras cubren este avance de la Infantería.

The machine guns cover this infantry advance.

Pero los USA han traído la artillería fuera del tablero, que se representa por una miniatura colocada en una esquina.

But the USA has brought the artillery off the board, which is represented by a miniature placed in a corner.

Una vez que los alemanes les toca avanzar, hacen lo propio, pero Enric prefiere ir a la defensiva, protegiendo su avance, ya que no conoce el nivel de destrucción del juego.

Once the Germans have to advance, they do the same, but Enric prefers to go on the defensive, protecting his advance, since he does not know the level of destruction of the game.

Como curiosidad, aunque no lo fue tanto, la artillería USA fuera del tablero optó por lanzar proyectiles de smoke, con fuego programado, por lo que ni por asomo acertamos en la posición ni en el turno a lanzar (realmente se hizo para que se viese el sistema de juego de la artillería fuera del tablero, y las posibilidades de fallar el disparo).

As a curiosity, although it was not so, the US artillery off the board chose to launch smoke projectiles, with programmed fire, so that we were not even remotely correct in the position or in the turn to launch (it was really done so that it could be seen the gameplay of artillery off the board, and the chances of missing the shot).

Después de pasar un buen rato explicando como funciona el reglamento, de ver un poco el sistema de disparos de infantería y de blindados, de echarnos una buena cantidad de risas y de saludar a conocidos (es lo que tiene jugar una partida en una tienda donde pasan muchos wargamers), la partida terminó con el entusiasmo de mi contrincante por el reglamento de Pendraken, por su sencillez y la lógica.

After having a good time explaining how the regulations work, seeing a bit of the infantry and armored shooting system, giving us a good amount of laughs and greeting acquaintances (it is what it has to play a game in a store where many wargamers pass), the game ended with my opponent's enthusiasm for the Pendraken rules, for its simplicity and logic.
