Hace 4 años se realizó una nueva partida Random entre los
alemanes de Juan, ayudado por Strategus, y mis británicos (aun sin pintar) ayudado
por Gumly.
Cuando llegamos la mesa ya estaba dispuesta y nos había tocado
el lado más desfavorable.
Pero como siempre digo, “hemos venido a divertirnos, no a discutir”.
4 years ago a new Random game was played between
Juan's Germans, helped by Strategus, and my British (still unpainted) helped by
Gumly.
When we arrived the table was already set and we had
touched the most unfavorable side.
But as I always say, "we have come to have fun,
not to argue."
Yo sólo discuto cuando en una partida Random es demasiado
evidente la descompensación de
equilibrio de fuerzas, en la que, teóricamente, los dos bandos deben tener la
misma puntuación y mismas oportunidades.
Y con jugadores que pretenden ganar aunque no que exista
igualdad en la partida, no he dudado en no desplegar, recoger y marcharme.
En escenarios ya creados por la editorial del propio juego,
si además es una recreación histórica, la cantidad de unidades por ambos bandos
son las que se encontraron realmente, con la descompensación que realmente
hubo. Y lo interesante es ganar con menos tropas.
I only argue when the balance of forces decompensation
is too evident in a Random game, in which, theoretically, both sides should
have the same score and the same opportunities.
And with players who intend to win even if there is no
equality in the game, I have not hesitated not to deploy, collect and leave.
In scenarios already created by the publisher of the
game itself, if it is also a historical recreation, the number of units on both
sides are those that were actually found, with the decompensation that actually
took place. And the interesting thing is to win with fewer troops.
Los alemanes desplegaron en la zona de las colinas y la parte
con más edificaciones. Los británico en el lado contrario y en zona despejada.
Aunque como en nuestra zona de despliegue había zonas ciegas
para los alemanes, no nos importó desplegar. Por mi parte, la diversión ante
todo.
The Germans deployed in the area of the hills and the
part with the most buildings. The British on the opposite side and in an open
area.
Although since our deployment zone had blind zones for
the Germans, we did not mind deploying. For my part, fun first and foremost.
En los primeros compases de la partida, los británicos tuvimos
suerte y pudimos avanzar primero muchas unidades, pudiendo terminar los
movimientos en zonas cubiertas de la vista de los alemanes.
Aunque un campo de trigo, mucha protección a las balas, no,
no da.
In the early stages of the game, the British were
lucky and were able to advance many units first, being able to finish the
movements in covered areas of the Germans' view.

Otras unidades quedaron un poco menos protegidas, pero fuera de la visión del
enemigo.

Por otro lado, los alemanes, con un Pak 40 sobre una colina
que domina todo el centro del tablero de combate, va a ser que no podíamos
entrar por ahí.

El resto de unidades, esperaban a que los británicos
avanzaran para poderlos cazar como patos.

Los alemanes sólo movían a las tropas mal posicionadas, pero
no hicieron más.

El Pak 40, en previsión de lo que los Diablos Rojos pudiesen
hacer, disparan sin compasión sobre ellos.

El resto de tropas británicas, deciden hacer la misma táctica
alemana: esperar a que ellos se acerquen.
The rest of the British troops decide to do the same
German tactic: wait for them to get closer.
Poniendo a todos los soldados en Disparo de Oportunidad,
igual que los alemanes.
Putting all the soldiers in Opportunity of Fire, just
like the Germans.
Lo curioso es que el equipo contrario empezó a discutir que
eso era de cobardes y que los jugadores británicos no sabíamos jugar, aunque
ellos lo estaban haciendo desde el principio.
Por lo que mueven unas pocas unidades, a modo de “cebo”,
pero sin ponerlos al alcance de nuestras armas, con la esperanza de que nosotros
piquemos y avancemos nuestras tropas.
The funny thing is that the opposing team began to
argue that this was cowardly and that the British players did not know how to
play, although they were doing it from the beginning.
So they move a few units, as a "bait", but
without putting them within arm's reach, in the hope that we will bite and
advance our troops.
Aunque el Pak ha diezmado a la unidad de paracas, estos, con
la Brend, castiga al cañón, por lo que empiezan a tener bajas e imposibilita
que esta pueda posicionarse mejor y pueda volver a disparar. Una ametralladora
en fuego de barrido puede llegar a hacer mucho daño.
Although the
Pak has decimated the parachute unit, these, with the Brend, punish the cannon,
so they begin to take casualties and make it impossible for it to position
itself better and to fire again. A machine gun in sweeping fire can do a lot of
damage.
La partida está en punto muerto, aunque los alemanes habían
partido en una mejor posición, está claro que hacer la misma táctica los dos
bandos no es forma de jugar. Más cuando un bando exige al contrario a que sean
ellos los que deben avanzar.
The game is at a standstill, although the
Germans had started in a better position, it is clear that doing the same
tactic on both sides is not a way to play. More when a side demands on the
contrary that they must advance.
Su Pack 40 ha diezmado a nuestros paracas, pero estos, que
se mantienen en su posición a pesar del daño infringido, les ha devuelto el
daño, dejando al cañón sin la posibilidad de poder disparar de nuevo.

who remain in position despite the damage inflicted, have returned the damage,
leaving the gun without the possibility of being able to fire again.
La partida terminó, más por falta de tiempo, que por
conseguir el objetivo uno de los dos bandos.
El objetivo de la partida era tomar el pueblo, y los dos
bandos están dentro de él. Y unidades completas eliminadas, tampoco, solo dos
unidades con limitación de tropa, una por bando (Pak 40 alemán y Paracas británicos).
Ningún punto de victoria para nadie.
Si los dos bandos tienen el mismo objetivo y la posición más
cómoda por ambas partes es quedarse estáticos, no es muy buena estrategia, ni
una partida interesante.
Cuando un contendiente se queda estático, esperando que el
otro sea tan poco inteligente como para que, en igualdad de puntos, tengan que avanzar,
la reacción lógica del contrario es hacer lo mismo: quedarse quietos, a
cubierto y en disparo de oportunidad.
Y eso suele no gustar al que “se ha puesto la piel de oso antes
de cazarlo”.
The game ended, more for lack of time, than for
achieving the objective of one of the two sides.
The objective of the game was to take the town, and
both sides are within it. And complete units eliminated, either, only two units
with troop limitation, one per side (Pak 40 German and British Paracas).
No victory point for anyone.
If both sides have the same objective and the most
comfortable position on both sides is to stay static, it is not a very good
strategy, nor an interesting game.
When one contestant remains static, hoping that the
other is so unintelligent that, on equal points, they have to advance, the
opposite logical reaction is to do the same: stay still, under cover and on
opportunity shot.
And that usually does not like those who "put on
the bearskin before hunting it."
Eso sí, las risas por las situaciones absurdas de “tú tienes
que avanzar y yo quedarme quieto”, estuvieron aseguradas.
Of course, the
laughter at the absurd situations of "you have to move forward and I stay
still" were assured.
