A mediados de agosto, durante la Operación Dragón, Patton avanzó por el sur de Falaise, intentando cerrar en una bolsa a las tropas de del Von Kluge.

Uno de las primeras poblaciones de importancia estratégica fue Argentan, pequeño pueblo con estación de tren, importante para que los alemanes quedasen detenidos en esta zona y pudiesen rendirse el 5º y 7º Ejército en bloque.

El 17 de agosto los norteamericanos toman contacto con las tropas alemanas en Argentan y el rápido avance inicial de las tropas de Patton, se convierte en lento, lo suficiente como para que los alemanes empiecen a replegar sus unidades de la división, dirección a Paris.

Y es en este momento, en esta toma de contacto, cuando se inicia la partida.

In mid-August, during Operation Dragon, Patton advanced through southern Falaise, attempting to seal off the von Kluge troops.

One of the first towns of strategic importance was Argentan, a small town with a train station, important for the Germans to be detained in this area and for the 5th and 7th Army to surrender in block.

On August 17, the Americans made contact with the German troops in Argentan and the initial rapid advance of Patton's troops became slow, enough for the Germans to begin to withdraw their units from the division, towards Paris.

And it is at this moment, in this contact, when the game begins.

El motivo de la partida es la de hacer una batalla grande como despedida del año.

Por ello montamos una mesa de 240x180cm en Kekolandia.

En un extremo se monta la población de Argentan, con su estación de tren, desde donde despliegan las fuerzas alemanas para su defensa.

At one end is the town of Argentan, with its train station, from where the German forces deploy for its defense.

Y en el otro, los norteamericanos inician el avance, con el empuje que realmente ocurrió.

And in the other, the Americans start the advance, with the push that really happened.

Los objetivos son:

Americanos: eliminar o expulsar a los alemanes de Argentan.

Alemanes: Resistir y hacer retroceder o eliminar a los norteamericanos.

The objectives are:

Americans: eliminate or expel the Germans from Argentan.

Germans: Resist and push back or eliminate Americans.

Nada más empezar la partida, los norteamericanos empezamos a tener buenas vibraciones, ya que un Team de observadores alemanes, es eliminado rápidamente.

As soon as the game started, the Americans began to have good vibes, since a team of German observers is quickly eliminated.

Y un bombardeo alemán no consigue alcanzar a tropas norteamericanas.

Creemos que son alemanes nacidos en el Bronx, ya que tienen la misma puntería que nuestra artillería.

And a German bombardment fails to reach American troops.

We believe they are Germans born in the Bronx, as they have the same marksmanship as our artillery.

Una unidad de Recon norteamericana se dedia a “pasearse” por el pueblo y los alrededores, muy al estilo del principio de la película “Los Violentos de Kelly”, y ni los francotiradores consiguen detenerlo, por lo que descubre un montón de unidades enemigas, hasta que se topa con una escuadra alemana atrincherada.

An American Recon unit was dedicated to "walking" through the town and the surroundings, very much in the style of the beginning of the movie "Kelly's Violent", and not even the snipers were able to stop him, so he discovered a lot of enemy units, until he comes across a entrenched German squad.

Y es a partir de ese momento en la que los norteamericanos, empiezan a caer.

Los alemanes crean un embudo a l entrada del pueblo y no dejan que ningún tanque pase de ese punto.

And it is from that moment on that the Americans begin to fall.

The Germans create a funnel at the entrance to the town and do not let any tank go past that point.

Mientras tanto las tropas de infantería del centro van acercándose, pero los mandos piensan que puede ser demasiado peligroso y no avanzan a la velocidad que les gustaría.

Meanwhile, the infantry troops in the center are getting closer, but the controls think that it can be too dangerous and do not advance at the speed they would like.

Mientras, los ingenieros consiguen llegar a los muros del flanco izquierdo, con la intención de volarlos para hacer entrar a los tanques por la brecha que quieren hacer.

La entrada del pueblo empieza a ser una ratonera.

Y el frente norteamericano se ve así.

Flanco derecho, también con ingenieros con la misma intención que los de la izquierda, reventar los muros para que pasen los tanques.

En vista de los movimientos de los flancos de los norteamericanos, las tropas alemanas se empiezan a dejarse ver, que hasta el momento estaban ocultas, y empiezan a tomar nuevas posiciones.

In view of the movements of the flanks of the Americans, the German troops begin to show themselves, which until now were hidden, and begin to take new positions.

Al final, más por la hora que por las ganas, la partida tuvo que terminar.

Aún quedaba la mitad de los turnos, pero estaba claro que el norteamericano había perdido muchos blindados, que más adelante le harán falta, pero al dividir los frentes, se conseguía descolocar las fuerzas alemanas.

In the end, more for the hour than for the desire, the game had to end.

There were still half the shifts left, but it was clear that the American had lost many armor, which he would later need, but by dividing the fronts, the German forces were displaced.

No estaba nada decidido, pero en vista del mal resultado que teníamos todos los USA con los dados (si, los tres teníamos unas tiradas malas de narices), estaba bastante claro que los USA no lo tenían precisamente muy fácil.

It was not decided at all, but in view of the bad result that all the USA had with the dice (yes, the three of us had a bad nose roll), it was quite clear that the USA was not exactly very easy.

Pero lo importante es que fue un día completo de buen rollo, risas y de estar explicando a un montón de gente en que consistía el juego y quien era +1 al Dau, algo que fue muy fructífero a nivel de nuevos socios.
