Napoleon advances on Russia

En esta ocasión, los rusos defienden una población y los franceses deben mermar las tropas rusas y traspasar las líneas enemigas.

Por ello, el terreno tiene una carretera transversal y una población.

On this occasion, the Russians defend a population and the French must detract Russian troops and cross enemy lines.

Therefore, the land has a transversal road and a population.

El frente francés se ha dividido en dos bloques básicamente, aunque son tres los generales al mando.

Por nuestro flanco izquierdo, por medio de los sembrados de la casa de campo, avanza un regimiento de infantería.

The French front has basically been divided into two blocks, although there are three generals in command.

On our left flank, through the fields of the country house, advances an infantry regiment.

Mientras el resto de la división, se despliega por el centro, para enfrentarse directamente con el enemigo.

While the rest of the division, deploys through the center, to face directly with the enemy.

Y una brigada de caballería, está en el flanco derecho.

And a cavalry brigade is on the right flank.

Por parte de los rusos, también con tres generales, tenemos en el flanco izquierdo de nuestro centro, protegiendo la carretera y ese flanco de la población, un regimiento de infantería, apoyado por una batería de artillería.

On the part of the Russians, also with three generals, we have on the left flank of our center, protecting the road and that flank of the population, an infantry regiment, supported by an artillery battery.

La población está resguardada por dos batallones de infantería.

The population is protected by two infantry battalions.

 Y el flanco derecho por otro regimiento similar al del flanco izquierdo.

And the right flank by another regiment similar to that of the left flank.

Y algo más retrasado una unidad de caballería, compuesto por un regimiento Dragones y otro de Húsares. Están algo más retrasados, ya que los rusos han desplegado anticipadamente y los franceses, después, por lo que debían estar en una posición móvil, aunque ya han partido con la orden de avance hacia un bosque algo más lejano.

And somewhat more delayed a cavalry unit, consisting of a regiment Dragons and another of Hussars. They are somewhat more delayed, since the Russians have deployed early and the French, later, so they should be in a mobile position, although they have already started with the order to move towards a somewhat farther forest.

Nada más empezar y a falta de llegar a la distancia de combate, la artillería de ambos bandos han tronado sin descanso.

La caballería francesa, viendo que la artillería rusa está “entretenida” con la infantería, deciden avanzar por el flanco derecho, antes que la caballería rusa pueda reaccionar.

The French cavalry, seeing that the Russian artillery is "entertained" with the infantry, decide to advance along the right flank, before the Russian cavalry can react.

En vista de lo que le puede venir encima, el batallón de jaguers deciden entrar en cuadro, mientras la caballería de dispone a contrarrestar el avance de la caballería francesa.

Mientras, el regimiento francés que avanza por los huertos de la granja de la izquierda, van avanzando sin oposición.

La caballería francesa al final entra al trapo con el combate, pero los húsares rusos llegan a tiempo para evitar una matanza de infantería.

Al final el combate entre caballerías se saldo con el regimiento de caballería de Húsares eliminada y, al afianzar su posición, entablo en combate con los Dragones, que, al estar exhaustos sus caballos, recibió únicamente una herida, por lo que las dos caballerías tuvieron que replegarse para que sus caballos descansasen.

In the end, the cavalry match ended with the Hussars cavalry regiment eliminated and, by strengthening its position, engaged in combat with the Dragons, who, being exhausted their horses, received only one wound, so the two cavalries had to retreat so that their horses rest.

No pudimos hacer muchas más turnos, ya que estuvimos concretando temas de club y matizando interpretaciones de la traducción que tenemos de Shako.

Nos sirvió para aprender varias nuevas reglas, como por ejemplo que la caballería, una vez ha realizado un asalto, puede avanzar para consolidar posiciones y puede entrar en combate una vez más con otro enemigo (y sólo una vez más), si está dentro de la distancia de consolidación, como ha sido este caso.

También ha servido para saber que los rusos pueden desplegar su artillería como media batería, aportando mayor potencia de fuego, aunque no mayor terreno de disparo.

We could not do many more shifts, since we were specifying club issues and clarifying interpretations of the translation we have of Shako.

It served us to learn several new rules, such as that the cavalry, once it has made an assault, can advance to consolidate positions and can enter into combat once again with another enemy (and only once more), if it is within the consolidation distance, as has been the case.

It has also served to know that the Russians can deploy their artillery as a half battery, providing greater firepower, although not greater firing ground.
